Arizona Outdoor Recreation Coordinating Commission: AORCC

Mission

AORCC graphicThe AORCC serves in an advisory capacity to the Arizona State Parks Board, and:

  1. reviews statewide outdoor recreation and lake improvement plans,
  2. reviews budget proposals for the use of Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) surcharges and State Lake Improvement Fund (SLIF) for planning and administration,
  3. establishes criteria and policies for the equitable distribution of funding, and
  4. reviews applications for eligible projects and determines the amount of funding for each project to be funded from the LWCF, SLIF, the Law Enforcement and Boating Safety Fund (LEBSF) and Arizona Heritage Fund Trails and Local, Regional and State Parks components.

AORCC Members

Seven members; by statute one must be the Director of Arizona Game and Fish Department and one must be the Director of Arizona State Parks. The remaining five members are appointed by the Governor to three-year terms. Three must be professional full-time Parks and Recreation Department Directors of a county, city or town, and two must be members of the general public with the broad experience in outdoor recreation.
