2007 Historic Preservation Partnership Conference
Prescott, Arizona · June 13th-16th, 2007

(Phoenix, Arizona - May 31, 2007) - The 5th Annual Historic Preservation Partnership Conference, given by The Arizona Preservation Foundation, Arizona State Historic Preservation Office, Arizona Main Street Program and the City of Prescott, will be held on June 13 through 16th in Prescott, Arizona.

"The goal of the conference is to bring together preservationists from around the state to exchange ideas and success stories, to share perspectives and solutions to preservation issues and to foster a sense of cooperation between the diverse Arizona preservation community," said James Garrison, the State Historic Preservation Officer.

The Governor's Awards in Public Archaeology are new to this year's conference. The Awards in Historic Preservation Ceremony will be held in the historic Elks Opera House on Thursday, June 14th at 5:30 p.m. The Awards recognize excellence in archaeological awareness, conservation and education and are selected by the Governor's Archaeology Advisory Commission. Combined with the 25th Annual Governor's Heritage Preservation Awards, which are presented by the Arizona Preservation Foundation and the State Historic Preservation Office, the conference becomes more than a time to learn, debate and network, but also a time to celebrate outstanding historic preservation efforts and achievements.

The conference partners are proud to have Arizona Attorney General Terry Goddard and Arizona State University Professor and noted poet Alberto Rios as this year's keynote speakers. Other speakers include; Jim McPherson, National Trust for Historic Preservation Advisor; Dan Schilling, Civic Tourism Consultant; Allan Affeldt, Mayor of Winslow; Sheila Harris, Department of Housing, and more. Conference participants include representatives from 27 local governments; Tribal members; federal, state and Tribal preservation specialists; developers, architectural, historical and archaeological consultants; academic scholars and property owners.

Conference registration is open to the public. For more information on the conference program and registration visit the Arizona Preservation Foundation website at www.azpreservation.org or contact the State Historic Preservation Office at (602) 542-4174.
