Off-Highway Vehicle Clean-Up Day on September 29

(Phoenix, Arizona – September 21, 2007) – The new Arizona State Parks Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) Ambassador Volunteer Program is making its first impact on OHV riding areas on Saturday, September 29 at 8 a.m. The multi-agency sponsored clean-up and maintenance day will be held at Desert Wells Multiuse Area near Florence Junction (Highway 60, Mile marker 207).

This project will involve the new OHV Ambassador Program volunteers patrolling designated routes to greet fellow OHV users. OHV Ambassadors and other volunteers will assist in sign maintenance and clean-up of litter at various sites on state trust land and maintenance of designated OHV route signs and fences in the area. Road access is good for all types of vehicles, but please bring pick-up trucks if available to assist with hauling of litter to dumpsters. Volunteers are asked to bring their own tools (shovels, rakes, fencing pliers) and gloves. RideNow Powersports (http://www.ridenow.com), a popular powersports dealer, will be on-site and provide drinking water and food.

The multi-agency OHV Ambassador Program is coordinated by Arizona State Parks and is a partnership between multiple entities (Arizona State Parks, Arizona Game and Fish Department, United States Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, Arizona County Sheriffs, organized OHV groups and volunteers) to enhance and conserve motorized recreation opportunities in Arizona. As the OHV Ambassador program expands, so will the participating government agencies and volunteer groups. Volunteers and OHV clubs from all over the Valley are joining in this effort.
