Volunteers Needed!! Open House at Tonto
Natural Bridge State Park on Saturday, May 19th
(Phoenix, Arizona - May 10, 2007) - Volunteer spirit and enthusiasm are needed at Tonto Natural Bridge State Park. Those interested are invited to attend a "Volunteer Open House" on Saturday, May 19th at 10 a.m.
We are looking for individuals or groups who care about the preservation and interpretation of historical and natural places. We have many interesting positions available for people with all types of skills. To support us in maintaining the historic lodge we need people who enjoy basic housekeeping. If you are more a "people" person, you might enjoy assisting us with helping our visitors. This can include assisting with the gift shop, operating the cash register or answering the phone. If you just love to talk with people you can assist by interpreting the history of the lodge, the geology of the bridge, and the fauna and flora found at the park.
Regardless of which job you are interested in, you will learn about the history of Tonto Natural Bridge State Park, and the surrounding area, and be able to share this knowledge with our visitors. People of almost any background or interest can find volunteer roles to match their interests and abilities. For further information, please contact Larry Cites at 928-476-4202.
Every year, millions of our friends and neighbors answer the call to help in their communities by giving their hands, their backs and their time. Arizona State Parks manages 27 natural, cultural, and recreational sites. Arizona State Parks manages and conserves these sites for the benefit of the public, and to succeed, park rangers rely on the support of their volunteers.
Thousands of people visit the parks every year and appreciate the help our volunteers offer. Last year, volunteers who care about the preservation of recreational, cultural, and historical resources in Arizona donated more than 150,000 volunteer hours to the State Parks. The value of their service can only be measured by the appreciation of our visitors so make this the year that you sign up for the team!
For detailed information about becoming a volunteer at another park call (602) 542-4174 (outside of the Phoenix metro area call toll-free (800) 285-3703) or visit the website at www.azstateparks.com.
