Archaeology and Women's History Presentations at
Riordan Mansion State Historic Park in March
(Phoenix, Arizona - February 23, 2007) - Riordan Mansion State Historic Park will present archaeology and women's history presentations in March.
On Saturday, March 10 at 7 p.m., the Evening Slide Presentation Series will celebrate Arizona Heritage and Archaeology Awareness Month with " Rock Art on the Colorado Plateau." Neil Weintraub, Kaibab National Forest archaeologist, will discuss the variety of rock art styles found on the Coconino Plateau south of the Grand Canyon. He will also discuss how the distribution of rock art styles may support recent archaeological evidence in support of the migration of the Cohonina from the Coconino Plateau during the late 11th and early 12th century. On Tuesday, March 13th at 12:15 p.m., the Brown Bag Lunch Lecture will celebrate Women's History Month with "En Vogue: 90 Years of Riordan Women's Fashion." Adrienne Rose, volunteer & textile historian, will discuss popular styles of women's clothing from the late 1880s through the 1960s. This program is a slide presentation featuring garments worn by three generations of Riordan women.

Winter hours are 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Riordan Mansion tours begin each hour. The first tour is at 11 a.m. and the last tour is at 4 p.m. Tour reservations are recommended.
Regular entrance fees are $6 for adults, $2.50 for children ages 7 to 13, children ages 6 and younger are free. Riordan Mansion is located next to Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff on Riordan Road.
