4th Annual "Music in the Park" Spring Music Concert Series at Oracle State Park

(Phoenix, Arizona - February 11, 2008) - "Music In The Park" spring music concert series returns to Oracle State Park beginning on Sunday, February 24, with four concerts scheduled the last Sunday of each month from February through May. The concerts are a special event fundraiser presented by the Friends of Oracle State Park.

The 4th annual concert series kicks off with an indoor concert set in the living room of the historic Kannally Ranch House. Tucson musicians Jennifer and Mark Robertson-Tessi will perform on Sunday, February 24 from 2 to 4 p.m. Jennifer has studied harp with many of the world's top harpists, and specializes in classical and celtic music. Mark has been honored for his artistry on guitar and mandolin.

Space is limited for this first concert and advance reservations are required. Limited series tickets are available for $35 and include reserved parking and reserved seats for each of the four concerts. If the purchase of series tickets does not sell out the February concert, then individual tickets for $15 per person will become available on February 18.

The next three concerts will be held outdoors on the upper patio of the Kannally Ranch House. No reservation is needed. Individual tickets for the March and April concerts will be available in advance or the day of the event for $10 each. The cost includes the entrance fee to Oracle State Park. Annual park passes do not apply for this special event.

On Sunday, March 30, Retro Swing 7 will perform on the upper patio of the Kannally Ranch House from 2 to 4 p.m. Retro Swing 7 features classic swing and jazz standards with a group consisting of four horns, four rhythm instruments and a vocalist. They look for new and interesting interpretations that give old music a fresh sound. Their repertoire includes other musical varieties such as classic rock, Dixieland and polkas.

On Sunday, April 27, the Bob Meighan Band returns to play on the upper patio of the Kannally Ranch House from 2 to 4 p.m. Bob Meighan with musicians Norm Pratt and Dick Furlow were the headliner band at the 2007 Fiesta de las Calabazas. Their danceable show includes original desert rock and ballads, a promising mix of old favorites as well as new material.

The last concert of the series will be a sunset celebration on Sunday, May 25 from 6 to 8 p.m. on the upper patio (music TBA). As a gift to the community, this concert is free to the public and the normal park entrance fee will be waived.
