Expand Your Night Sky Knowledge with Oracle State Park

March 22, 2018

PHOENIX – Oracle State Park is hosting a Star Party and educational guest speaker on Saturday, March 24 to showcase the night sky and discuss our fascination with stars since before recorded history.

Oracle State Park was designated a Dark Sky Park by the International Dark Sky Association in 2014 and regularly hosts Star Parties to help visitors explore the wonders of the night sky. This event will begin with an educational program, “Under Ancient Skies: The Archaeo-astronomy of the Desert Southwest” by Dr. John Barentine.

The Tucson Amateur Astronomer’s Association will supply high-quality telescopes and extensive knowledge for this fun, educational evening. This event is open for all ages.

The cost to attend is the park entrance fee of $7 per vehicle. A reservation is suggested for the educational program, but the Star Party is free with park admission. For more information, visit AZStateParks.com/Oracle.
