PHOENIX – Experience your favorite state parks like never before under the night skies of Arizona! Your state parks are hosting Star Parties and other evening events during September and October, offering unique experiences under the night sky and chances to enjoy the parks in a whole new way.

Meet local astronomers during Star Parties to learn more about the cosmos and take in the incredible views from around the Sonoran Desert! These events give visitors an unforgettable experience and a new perspective on our galaxy, and professional telescopes and experts are on hand to ensure attendees catch sight of the best parts of the night sky!


You can also have nighttime adventures learning more about bats and scorpions, or learn more about the red rocks of Sedona while enjoying the sunset and moonlight from a new angle. Kartchner Caverns State Park is a Dark Sky Park designated by the International Dark Sky Association.

WHEN: Sept. 8 Bat Night at Oracle State Park, Star Party at Red Rock State Park and Desert Scorpion Hunting at Lost Dutchman State Park; Sept. 15 Star Party at Homolovi State Park; Sept. 24 and Oct. 23 Moonlight Hikes at Red Rock State Park; Oct. 6 Star Party at Homolovi State Park; Oct. 13 Star Parties at Lost Dutchman, Kartchner Caverns, and Catalina state parks.
